Here is the general information regarding the Howell Basketball Club Season. Our divisions are determined by grade level in the current school year.

****How long is the season and when does it start****

The season runs from the first Saturday in December through Mid-March. There will be a minimum of 10 weeks of play.
(Barring an excessive number of weather closures during the winter.)

Team rosters are determined in early November.

For the grades 3-8 divisions there will be one or two weeknight practices in late November prior to the first games being played.

Kindergarden, First & Second grade Instructional level, and the High School Divisions play on Saturdays only.

*****What time are the practices or games*****

The practice times during the week will depend on Coach & Gym availability.

Generally, each team (grade 3-8) will be assigned a 1 hour practice time during the week. Practices will be either at 6PM, 7PM, 8PM or 9PM and can be any night during the week. Obviously, the younger children will have the earliest time slots. Saturday Games can be at anytime from 8:00AM through 4:00PM. Games are 1 hour long.

Kindergarden, First & Second grade Instructional level meets on Saturdays only where the children learn the basic skills of basketball and participate in drills and activities. At this level, actual game play is discouraged until just the last few weeks of the season.

The High School Divisions play a "games only" season on Saturdays. There are no practices for the HS level. This allows more players to participate in a competitive environment while not sacrificing study or after school jobs.

*******Where are the games/practices held******

With about 2,000 children participating, Howell Basketball does use just about every elementary and middle school gym for games and practices.

Until registration takes place and all of the schedules are organized there is no way to say exactly where your child’s grade will be practicing and/or playing. Once the schedule is established the location will always be the same.

One item to note is that practices for our Rec League players is completely OPTIONAL. Being unable to attend practices will never effect a child's standing on a team, nor playing time. If a child is present for a game on Saturdays he or she will always play the full complement of game time.
